Sonnenbühl
Five pillars for the energy transition in the Swabian Alb
Foundations for the Hohfleck wind farm
The Hohfleck wind farm is located in the woodland area between Sonnenbühl and Engstingen; it is Stadtwerke Tübingen’s first wind power project in the Neckar-Alb region. The wind farm was developed by SOWITEC (Sonnenbühl). Five turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2 megawatts, will in future supply around 41 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity per year to over 9,000 households.
In the summer of 2025, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner Dußlingen supplied around 350 tonnes of reinforcing steel for the massive foundations of the turbines on behalf of Seewind Windenergiesysteme GmbH. Despite the challenging location at an altitude of 819 to 867 metres, the project was completed on schedule. The official inauguration is scheduled for May 2026.
