Biggest order in SÜLZLE’s history has its halfway party
Concreting the 14th chalice pillar
15.03.2021
Deutsche Bahn successfully concreted the 14th goblet pillar for Stuttgart’s future main station on 27 February 2021. This means that half of the total of 28 uniquely shaped concrete works of art that form the roof of the new platform hall are now in place. Together with Olaf Drescher, Chairman of the Management Board of DB Projekt Stuttgart-Ulm GmbH, the new Lord Mayor of Stuttgart, Dr Frank Nopper, and the station’s architect, Christoph Ingenhoven, watched the work in progress.
The entire goblet contains around 350 tonnes of reinforcing steel, distributed over 22,000 individually measured steel struts. Ed. Züblin AG relies on SÜLZLE Stahlpartner to manufacture the customised reinforcement. Work is already underway on the 15th goblet pillar, where concreting is planned for this spring.
