High-quality flat products are used where extreme conditions prevail: in power plant and shipbuilding, in mechanical and plant engineering and in the construction of containers, cranes and bridges. The basis for this are so-called heavy plates, which are formed by hot rolling. The new heat treatment plant of Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH (ILG) is expected to supply more than 200,000 tons of this to customers all over the world every year. The investment by the Salzgitter Group is currently the largest single investment in Saxony-Anhalt.
The ground-breaking ceremony in November 2017 prepared the ground for the Ilsenburg site. The halls were built in the summer of 2018 and one year later, the go-ahead was given for the new construction of the plants. The new heat treatment line includes two roller hearth furnaces, a MultiFlex-Quench® with a water treatment system, a straightening machine and a preservation line. Commissioning is scheduled for mid-2020.
SÜLZLE Stahlpartner Nordhausen is supplying around 8,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel and 300 tonnes of bored piles for this construction project on behalf of ARGE Neubau Adjustage Ilsenburg. “We are pleased to accompany this major construction project as a reliable and efficient local partner,” says Dörk Maushake, branch manager of SÜLZLE Stahlpartner in Nordhausen.
