SÜLZLE Gruppe donates 14.000 € to the S.H.A.R.E Foundation
Donation on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the SÜLZLE Group
On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the SÜLZLE group of companies, the SHARE Foundation is receiving a donation of €14,000 to offer young adults in poorer regions a perspective. Through SHARE’s long-standing project collaborations with Nigerian partners, the interreligious resettlement camp was created in Gurku/Nigeria to create a safe haven for internally displaced people between the Muslim north and the Christian south of the country.
Specifically, it involves the initiation and development of a refugee village for so-called IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) who had to flee their homeland, northern Nigeria, from the cruel violence of the terrorist organization Boko Haram. Initial emergency aid measures quickly developed into further needs to enable the numerous persecuted people to resettle in the south of the country. SHARE started with 10 families – today there are already over 1,400 refugees living there, mainly widows, orphans and children. In the meantime, the interreligious, self-governing internally displaced persons camp has become a model for successful conflict management, as the IDPs live peacefully together with the host community and the Fulani (shepherds).
Since the project began, a number of aid measures have already been implemented. This includes the construction of simple residential buildings and a functioning infrastructure, the development of basic medical care and trauma therapy, as many refugees are severely traumatized by terrible experiences such as executions, rape or mass murders. Through the donation, SÜLZLE can contribute to implementing further aid measures in Gurku.
