SÜLZLE awarded as innovation champion


Letting go of the old and daring to try something new: Innovative medium-sized companies like the SÜLZLE Group are not afraid of change, but see it as an opportunity. Thus, the company convinced at the 27th round of the innovation competition TOP 100. After being winner of the “Axia Best Managed Companies Award” five weeks ago, SÜLZLE now officially belongs to the TOP 100. In the scientific selection process, the company particularly impressed in the category “Innovative Processes and Organisation”. For the second time after 2016, SÜLZLE is one of the top innovators.

The diversity of the company’s business fields is an innovation feature in itself: The top innovator has seven departments in the steel trade, steel and plant construction as well as in building and environmental technology, for example, integrated solutions for drinking water, process and waste water treatment as well as for thickening, dewatering, drying and recycling of sewage sludge.

The company’s philosophy focuses above all on value-oriented action and the two-winner principle: “Whether employee, customer or supplier: we deal with everyone in a very cooperative manner,” emphasises managing partner Heinrich Sülzle, who is the fourth generation of the family to manage the TOP 100 company together with his brother Andreas. SÜLZLE has also been dealing with the topic of sustainability for a long time with its 140-year company history. For example, a complete solution for the thermal utilization of sewage sludge has been developed. In addition, SÜLZLE buys, sells and rents new and used steel with the aim of reusing the valuable material several times and using it more sustainably.

In the age of Industry 4.0, digitisation also plays an important role. One of the most modern rebar fabs in Europe was opened in the Lübeck branch, with automated machinery as well as digitalized and networked production and communication. To ensure that employees do not run out of good ideas, the managers attach great importance to training and further education. The SÜLZLE Academy, for example, offers its own training rooms, and the digital training platform is constantly being expanded.

For the medium-sized companies, it is a matter of securing their long-term future. They don’t think progress from the perspective of short-term profit, but rather with an eye to securing the company’s existence”.
