SÜLZLE Hagmeyer supports Little Smile e.V.
Donation on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the SÜLZLE Group
On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the SÜLZLE Group, SÜLZLE Hagmeyer donated 1,400 Euro to the children’s aid organization Little Smile Association (LSA) in Sri Lanka.
In Germany, Little Smile e.V., which is recognized as a non-profit organization, organizes and coordinates the support for LSA. The main project of the Association is the children’s village near Mahagedara in the mountains of Sri Lanka, which was built in 1999 by the director and TV journalist Michael Kreitmeir and has been continuously expanded together with the Association. Today the village consists of six children’s houses, a farm building, a school, a training workshop, a sewing shop, a carpentry workshop, a Buddhist and Hindu temple, a chapel of the Virgin Mary, two houses for widows with children, a guest house, residential buildings for employees, a clinic for traditional medicine, a house of meetings and extensive plantations for pepper, vanilla and cinnamon as well as rice and vegetable fields for self-sufficiency. In total, the village covers an area of about 15 hectares with a height difference of 90 meters and is home to Sinhalese, Tamils, Buddhists, Hindus and Christians mixed together in family-like groups. In its own training center, private lessons in small groups are given in the afternoon and on weekends, as well as lessons in traditional dance and sewing. After finishing school, the residents of the Children’s Village Mahagedara can complete an apprenticeship in various professional fields.
