Concreting the 14th chalice support

On February 27, 2021, Deutsche Bahn successfully concreted the 14th chalice support for the future Stuttgart main station. This means that half of the 28 uniquely shaped concrete works of art that form the roof of the new platform hall are standing. Together with Olaf Drescher, CEO of DB Projekt Stuttgart–Ulm GmbH, the new mayor of Stuttgart, Dr. Frank Nopper and the architect of the train station, Christoph Ingenhoven, followed the work.
There are around 350 tons of reinforcing steel in the entire chalice, which are spread over 22,000 individually measured steel struts. The Ed. Züblin AG relies on SÜLZLE Stahlpartner to produce the custom-made reinforcement. Work on the 15th chalice support is already underway and concreting is planned there this spring.
