Striking building for European trade fair
The Lisière project brings a touch of poetry to Strasbourg
The redesign of the Wacken site for national and international events in Strasbourg was planned by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The project to build a new exhibition centre was prompted by the outdated halls. In October 2018, EMS commissioned SERS to build the new ‘Parc des Expositions de Strasbourg (PEX)’. With over 25,000 m² of covered exhibition space, the area will be spread over four halls. A car park with 900 spaces is also planned. Kengo Kuma is focusing on a wood and steel construction, local materials, simple forms and a play with the water of the diversion canal. Sustainable goals are incorporated through a comprehensive environmental concept. SOTRALENTZ CONSTRUCTION supplied more than 300 tonnes of mesh mats for the floor slabs of four halls with an area of approx. 23,650 m².
